The D’Edward man who is accused of hacking his wife to death was remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Chandra Sohan at the New Amsterdam Court yesterday.
It is alleged that around 5:10 pm on October 14 at D’Edward Village, West Berbice, Andson “Andy” Nicholson murdered 23-year-old Trevlyn Kingston-Nicholson.
Reports are that the two had a heated argument over a text message that the defendant reportedly received from another woman on his cellular phone.
Nicholson had at first reportedly beat the woman on the sea-dam where they had gone to round up their cows. He later ran home for a fork and a chopper and inflicted the fatal wounds on the woman.
A post-mortem examination showed that the woman died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple incision wounds.
The matter has been transferred to the Blairmont Court where Nicholson is scheduled to appear on Monday.
