The Banks DIH Thirst Park Sports Club, Banks DIH will come alive on October 26 when the Guyana Amateur Power Lifting Federation’s (GAPLF) annual Banks DIH-sponsored Senior Power lifting Championships lift off at 10:00hrs.
This year’s competition is expected to be a spectacular one, since the event will be used as a deciding factor in selecting competitors for international competitions in the upcoming year.
With defending overall champion Mervyn ‘Spongy’ Moses, John ‘Big John’ Edwards, Mark Perry, Randolph Morgan, Winston Stoby and his rival Bhojnarine Persaud all expected to compete, this year’s event promises to provide keen and exciting rivalry.
The customary strong contingent from Linden will also be present along with the Berbice regulars. Some new faces including this year’s intermediate and junior champion Wasim Immamdeen will also be on display.
Interested competitors are asked to be at the venue for registration and weigh-in which begins at 8:00am and runs until 9:30am before the commencement of the competition.
