A 26-year-old man sustained a fractured jaw and other head injuries after he was attacked and robbed by a gang on the Leonora Public Road on Friday night.
Navindra Nauth Singh of Lot 102 Tuchen, North, East Bank Essequibo grimaced in pain as he recalled the attack from his bed at the Georgetown hospital, though he has no memory of being transported to the hospital.
Singh said he had just followed his girlfriend home and around midnight was awaiting transportation when “I feel something hard lash me in me head from behind me.” He said although he fell from the weight of the blow, his attackers continued to beat him about his head and body with several blunt objects. They then relieved him of two gold rings and his cellular phone and fled the scene on foot.
Singh said he fell unconscious and when he awoke he was an in-patient in the hospital’s Male Ward.
