The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has seen slight adherence to its conservation drive but hopes that the campaign could be sustained and become a culture for Guyanese.
Chief Executive Officer Bharat Dindyal made the assertion during a televised press conference at NCN studio yesterday.
Dindyal said he felt the drive was a success and noted that following the introduction of the campaign consumption was only 63 megawatts, but typically it is 66 megawatts.
He stressed that the campaign would have to be sustained and could eventually develop into a culture.
He encouraged persons to continue to turn off lights and unplug electrical devices not in use to help keep consumption low.
The company had launched a countrywide public education programme, which encouraged electricity conservation.
