Milerock FC still in commanding lead
Bakewell Top XX, Amelia’s Ward United, Netrockers and Silver Shattas all drew their matches when the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Ministry of Sports, Coca Cola First Division League continued on Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports club ground in Linden.
In the opening game of the double header, Bakewell Top XX and Amelia’s Ward United played to a 1-1 stalemate in what was keenly contested affair.
As expected, Topp XX dominated the game but their strikers were off target for most of the game.
Shevonne Seaforth scored in the 58th minute but Shawn Daniels equalized
in the 82nd minute for Amelia’s Ward.
But six minutes later, Topp XX appeared to have the game in the bag when they were awarded a penalty.
But Seaforth failed to complete his double as his shot was well saved by Amelia’s Ward goal-keeper Odell Allicock.
The game between Netrockers and Silver Shattas also finished in similar fashion.
But Netrockers have only themselves to blame since they failed to defend the 31-minute strike from Oswin Hope.
Silver Shattas continued to pressure the Netrockers’ defence and this resulted in Deon Sancharan levelling the scores in the 86th minute.
Action continues tomorrow evening with Milerock opposing Netrockers and Bakewell Topp XX squaring off against Winners Connection.
