Guyana’s 2008 Junior Cycling Champion Neil Reece put on a terrific display at the Flying Ace Cycle Club’s Cycling and Athletics Track Attack meet which was held at the Skeldon Community Centre ground on October 12.
He won the Junior/Juvenile six-lap race, unknown distance and the feature event ‘Devil takes the Hindmost’.
Reece lapped the field of 24 competitors twice in the feature event of the 26-race programme. Competitors from New Amsterdam, Fyrish, Rose Hall and Corriverton competed in the ‘track attack’ meet.
The cyclist was awarded $25,000 for his outstanding performance by his sponsor Fizal Ally who encouraged him to remain disciplined in the sport.
Other outstanding performances in the cycling programme came from Skeldon’s Tariz Immonaden and BMX 9-12 rider Zhristan Kemal.
Members of the Flying Ace Cycling Club extended their gratitude to the Manager of Skeldon Estate, Kalibur Security Services, Banks DIH, Lloyd & Kim’s Fashion, Water Chris Hotel and other supporters who made the event possible.
