The Cuban government on Tuesday donated a number of textbooks to final year medical students.
The Government Information Agency (GINA) quoted Cuba’s Chargé d’Affaires Pedro Arteaga as saying that the books will assist in their final year studies. GINA spoke with Arteaga at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.
GINA said Guyana has benefited in a number of areas from its 36-year relationship with Cuba. Currently Guyanese suffering from eye ailments are undergoing medical care in Cuba. Cuban doctors are also serving here while Guyanese students are being trained in various fields in that country in areas such as human and veterinary medicine and agriculture science. An ophthalmology centre is also being built at Port Mourant, Region Six with Cuban assistance.
