Khalil, Rodrigues capture badminton singles titles

Jason Ray Khalil and Anissa Rodrigues captured singles titles when the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) junior singles tournament concluded last Friday at the Queens College Badminton Courts.

Khalil won the boys’ U-15 singles title while Rodrigues won the U-15 and U-17 girls’ singles titles.

In the boys’ U-15 singles final, Khalil defeated Narayan Ramdhani, 23-21, 21-13.

Third place went to Kevin Quaicoe who defeated Christopher Persaud, 21-18, 21-16.

Rodrigues defeated Tashana Lowe, 21-12, 21-18 in the girls’  U-15 singles final with third place going to Pricilla Moore who defeated Priyanna Ramdhani, 21-15, 21-8.

Nicholas Ali won the boys’U-17 singles title beating Avian Rodrigues, 21-17, 21-17 in the final.
In the third-place play-off, Khalil defeated Ramdhani, 21-13, 22-20.

Rodrigues captured her second title when she defeated Pricilla Moore, 21-8, 10-21, 21-8 in the final.
Third place went to Tashana Lowe who defeated Maria DaSilva, 21-7, 14-21, 16-21.

The presentation of prizes to the first three finishers was done by a representative from the Consulate of the People’s Republic of China.
