A 30-year-old Zeelugt man died after he was hit by a motor van on the Zeelugt public road on Saturday night.
A police press release said that the fatal accident occurred around 9.20 pm on Saturday. It is reported that Ricky Ramnarine of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo was pushing a bicycle across the road when he was struck down by a motor van.
According to investigations he was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he died while receiving attention.
The release also said that the driver of the motor van appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
