A man who allegedly stole a quantity of floorboards valued $1M from a woman was granted bail yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Kayshav Naraine of 121 Church Street, Alberttown pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny.
It is alleged that on October 17, Naraine stole the floor boards valued $1M from the premises of Thelisa Dataram.
However, Naraine’s lawyer stated that the premises from which the boards were stolen was occupied by several other persons and his client had been arrested since Thursday but he still has not been questioned by the police.
The defense attorney then applied for bail.
The prosecution did not object to the bail application but stated that Naraine was seen removing the floorboards from the premises and placing it into a vehicle.
The magistrate subsequently granted bail in the sum of $150,000. Naraine was then ordered to appear back in court on December 3.
