Finally after two months, the finals of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Elite knock out basketball tournament between the Kashif and Shanghai Kings and the Wismar Pistons will be contested this evening at the Mackenzie sports Club Hard Court.
Players and fans of the sport in the mining town had becoming frustrated with the LABA over the staging of the finals which was last slated to be played on October 11.
This frustration came after they had turned up at the venue only to be told that the final was postponed due to the funeral of former Courts Pacesetters player Kevin Worrell.
And ever since the organisers have had trouble in finding a date to play the finals.
However, LABA secretary Joe Chapman yesterday told Stabroek Sport that the final will certainly be contested this evening.
The winning team will receive $80,000, the runners-up $40,000 and third place $20,000.
Some of the players who will be on show are Marvin Hartman, Jason Alonzo and Omolly Sampson for the Kashif and Shanghai Kings and Quincy Jones, Neville Grenville and Trevor Proffit for the Pistons.
Jump ball time is 7pm.
