The special committee tasked with organising this year’s Diamond Mineral Water International Indoor Hockey Festival has stepped up preparations ahead of next month’s event billed for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Already teams from the United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica have expressed an interest in participating and, according to tournament co-ordinator Philip Fernandes, this year’s turnout of teams will be significant.
The committee includes former Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) president, Troy Peters, who was chairman of the inaugural tournament, Alisia Katideen, Ivor Thompson, Dwayne Scott, Maria Munroe, Lawrence Farley and Chris Woodroffe.
Fernandes has disclosed that members of the executive of the GHB will also form part of the committee which will meet tomorrow at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) pavilion from 13:30 hours.
The festival will cater for play in three divisions men’s, women’s and veterans.
