Parika/Hydronie SC was flattened by Hyde Park SC last Sunday as they trampled their way into the quarterfinal round of the Guyana Softball League (GSL) organized Memorex Enterprise 15-Over Countrywide Softball Tournament at the Den Amstel ground.
HPSC trashed PHSC by a massive 143 runs after batting first and getting to a mammoth 218-7, compliments of Gibran Mohamed and Nandrar Lalliram who racked up 64 and 43 respectively with support from Imtiaz Sadeek (30) while Vishnu Kissoon booked 3-40 for PHSC.
PHSC in reply were only able to make a meagre 75 in 8.3 overs against Ashim Mohamed and Sadeek who grabbed 4-11 and 2-18 respectively. Over at the Providence ground Better Hope “B” defeated Skyline XI by eights wickets, then Banks DIH also defeated Better Hope by eight wickets.
In match one Skyline XI batted first and scored 86 in 11.5 overs, while Feroz Khan claimed 4-12 for Better Hope. The B Team then got 87-2 in 8.2 overs led by a terrific unbeaten 50 from Khan.
With figures of 4 – 10 by Banks DIH’s Steve Jones, Better Hope struggled to 65 in 11.1 overs. Banks then stormed to 66-2 in 5.1 overs.
In the Essequibo zone of the tourney Cullen Sports Club eclipsed Young Warriors by 33 runs for victory on the Cullen ground. CSC posted a total of 121 losing seven wickets in the process. YW’s Haseeb Mohamed bagged 3-9 before his team replied and crumbled to 88 all out.
Die Hard XI corrupted the Electronics XI team by 38 runs as they batted first and set a target of 166 for victory. Ricky Lakeram (58) and Imtiaz Imrit (36) were the top scorers for Die Hard while Azaam Hanif grabbed 3-27 for Electronics.
Davendra Narine (4-20) and Imrit (2-14) distorted Electronics batting line and restricted the opposition to 127-7 from 14.5 overs.
Rangers Sports Club blasted Boom Blast XI by five wickets on the Den Amstel ground this past Tuesday.
Boom Blast XI had the opportunity to bat first but they could only get to 86 in 14.5 overs against the miserly Jagmohan Singh and Asif Saffie who swiped 3-8 and 3-10 respectively for the RSC. They (RSC) reached their target of 92 in 10 overs.
