Cabinet has offered its no objections to several contracts for infrastructural works including one for over $592M to effect immediate repairs to the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon made this disclosure at a recent post-Cabinet briefing. Luncheon said the contract for the supply of 200 deck plates for the Bridge is valued $592.7M. Another valued $32.5M for the purchase of an anchor chain was also approved.
No objections were also given for four awards of over $300M to the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) for the procurement of pumps and motors ($44.2M) and $109.6M for the purchase of chloride, fittings and valves for the sewerage pumping stations and mains in central Georgetown. Another $136.07M is available for similar items to be distributed to several of the company’s departments. Similar items will also be purchased to the value of $180.3M for GWI.
