Led by Deonarine Ramdeo’s 4-9, Mibicuri Strikers routed Johanna Warriors for a meagre 22 in their latest round of matches in the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC)/Demerara Bank Limited (DBL) sponsored second division 40-overs-a side competition last weekend
In a polder battle, Ramdeo received valuable support from Joseph Brijbilas (2-2) and Deodat Persaud and Sanjay Seeray who took 2-3 and 2-8 respectively, as Johanna Warriors were dismissed for 13.4 overs for the lowest score of the tournament to date.
Mibicuri then lost 2 wickets in reaching their target.
After his side Strikers of Corriverton were bowled out for 112 by Kim Il Sung, Vincent Chattergoon took 5 -23 from eight overs to bowl his team to a 33-run triumph over their opponents. Off-spinner Lakeram Latchman bagged another five-wicket haul (5 for 8) in seven overs as Number 73 Warriors dismissed neighbours Number 72 All Stars for 146.
Charran Bhoj contributed a polished 51 as Number 73 Warriors overhauled their target losing only five wickets in the process, with Chanderkumar Ramjass hitting an even half century while Latchman returned to make 32.
In another clash neighbours, Number 69 Vikings’ Virvasha Ramdharry scored 79, his second half century of the tournament which was more than half of his side’s score of 139 and proved to be too much for Number 70’s Lalman who were scuttled out for 66 in reply.
Krishna Narsingh with 4-6 from three overs of off spin and pacer Vishwanauth Lallbeharry 3-18 from seven overs did the damage for Number 69.
Half centuries came from the bats of Nazim Mohamed of Number 71 and Bhowdar Sewdhar of Number 47 Pioneers.

At Number 73, Number 73 Young Warriors triumphed over Number72 All Star by 5 wickets. Number 72 146 from 28 overs. C. Bhoj 51, L. Latchman 5 – 8. Number 73 147- 5 C. Ramjass 50, L. Latchman 32.
In the game at the Number 70 ground, Number 69 Vikings overwhelmed Number 70 Lalman by 73 runs. Vikings 139 from 25 overs, V. Ramdharry 79, N. Prashad 26. C. Lionel 3 – 24. Number 70 66 from 18 overs with K. Narsingh 4 – 6, V. Lallbeharry 3 – 18 being the wicket takers.
At Number 71, Number 71 edged Number 65 ‘A’ by two wickets in their encounter. Number 65 ‘A’ batted first and were bowled out for 192 from 34.3 overs, with K. Hemnauth 37, R. Chandradat 33, A. Armogan 31 being the principal scorers.
In reply, Number 71 scored 196 for 8 from 27.5 overs, with N. Mohamed contributing 50, M. Vincent 37.
Number 48 Cavaliers hosted Number 47 Pioneers and suffered a 32 runs defeat at their ground. Pioneers batted first and scored 216 from 38 overs, with B. Sewdhar 57 being the principal scorer.
K. Somrah took 4 – 30 bowling for Number 48 Cavaliers, who were routed for 184 from 38.4 in reply. R. Ameir and K. Somrah each made 33 against the bowling of D. Singh who took 4 – 20 and received support from T. Persaud 3 -29 and B. Sewdat 3 -44
At Number 70, Number 70 MYO stopped their village counterparts Young Blood by 28 runs in their clash. Number 70 MYO batted first and was bowled out for 121 from 22 overs, with N. Khan 32 being the principal scorer against the bowling of I. Khan who took 3 – 23.
In reply, Number 70 Young Blood was routed for 93 from 24 overs, thanks to the bowling of Z. Khan who took 3 – 15
At Whim, Big Star whipped Whim National by four wickets. Whim National took first strike and were bowled out for 75 in 19.4 overs, to which Big Star replied with 76-6 in 16.1 overs.
The competition, which is the largest second division competition being played in the country, will continue this weekend.
