FIFA vice president supports Kashif and Shanghai tournament

FIFA Vice President Austin Warner handing over a letter of commitment to Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Wednesday.

Known as the voice for football in the Caribbean, Vice President of football’s  world  governing body (FIFA) Trinidadian Austin ‘Jack’ Warner has given tangible support to the Kashif and Shanghai organisation for the third year in succession.

Warner, who is also president of CONCACAF and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), stated that he was honoured to be associated with the Kashif and Shanghai football tournament, Guyana’s premier soccer tournament.

“I am happy to be supporting the tournament and by extension the development of football in Guyana. I would also like to publicly compliment the Guyana government for their continued support of this tournament.”
Co-director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major expressed his sincere gratitude to Warner for showing a high level of confidence in the year end competition which brings together the best clubs in Guyana.

The FIFA vice president donated a large quantity of balls and uniforms for the 19th edition of the tournament. Warner also stated that his schedule was very tight but hoped to be in Guyana for the final on New Year’s day.

Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) first division club side K Brand F.C is the only overseas club that will compete in this year’s competition.
