Dask Enterprises will sponsor today’s Medal Play golf tournament and several foreign players who are due in for the Guyana Open Championships are expected to compete. Captain of the Lusignan Golf Club Jerome Khan, who is also managing director of Dask Enterprises, disclosed that at least 20 foreign players who have indicated their interest in competing in the prestigious Guyana Open will begin arriving in the country this weekend and a few are likely to go into action today.
Players from United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and a large contingent from neighbouring Suriname will be joining their counterparts from Guyana in the championships to be sponsored by local beverage giants Banks DIH Ltd. This weekend’s field will include Avinash Persaud, Brian Hackett, Mark Lashley, Avinda Kishore, Ian Gouveia, Patrick Prashad, Brian Gladford, Colin Ming, Mike Mangal, Mike Guyadin, Joann Deo, Christine Sukhram, Maurice Solomon, Esau Shamshudin, Chatterpaul Deo, Imran Khan, Lester Alvis, Carlos Adams, Melissa Humphrey, Bolaram Deo, Dr. Ram Singh, Jorge Medina, and Albert Semple.

Meanwhile, Hackett, playing off a handicap 28 recorded a gross 93 to finish with a net 65 in winning last weekend’s Waterchris Medal Play tournament. Jerome Khan (handicap 19) secured the second position with a net 67 after finishing the day with a gross 88. Third place went to Mark Lashley playing off a 28 handicap secured a gross 96 to end with a net 68. Nearest to the Pin prize was won by Kishun Bacchus, while lowest gross scored was claimed by Imran Khan who had a gross of 77.
