Alleged wife tormentor charged with stabbing husband

Emam Khan, the man who allegedly stabbed Brian Gray in the neck because he warned him off his wife, appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Khan, 29, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding when it was read to him by Magistrate Geeta Chandan Persid-Edmond.

It is alleged that on November 9 at Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam Khan unlawfully wounded Brian Gray.
Magistrate Chandan Persid-Emond granted the accused bail in the sum of $20,000 and he returns to court on December 12.
Gray, called ‘Jessie’, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, was stabbed in his neck and slashed across his right ear around 7 pm on Sunday. He was attacked after he warned a man off his wife.

The 38-year-old man told Stabroek News that he was pushing his bicycle along the road when his attacker, who was drinking in the company of friends, shoved him down. Before he could have gotten up, the man hit him in his head with a bottle, which broke.
The attacker, who was being prompted by his friends, then used the broken bottle to carry out the assault.

Gray explained that he was on his way home after accompanying a friend to his house when he confronted the attacker, who had interfered with his wife on more than one occasion.
