The Agriculture Ministry said it took every precaution to ensure there was no health risks posed to its staff from repairs being done at some of its offices.
In a press release the ministry said it became apparent that materials may have been used in the original construction which posed some concerns and as such it relocated workers likely to be affected. It also said it had issued guidelines to safeguard health, with assistance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and it is currently awaiting the results of an investigation the EPA conducted.
Additionally, the ministry said, the building is listed as a heritage site and a certain degree of care will be exercised in order to preserve its architectural beauty. Also, special arrangements have been put in place to continue delivering service while renovations are being done.
