– TCL builds bus shed Bath
Residents of West Berbice benefited from a cement mixing demonstration and free giveaways on Friday when TCL Guyana Inc (TGI) held its fourth ‘Cement Tent’ at Waterloo, Bath.
Persons were given special prizes that included spades, a wheelbarrow and cement after they answered questions pertaining to the TCL product correctly. The residents were also pleased at having the first-hand demonstration of how to mix the cement in the right manner in order to have the best use of the product.
General Manager of TCL, Trinidad and Tobago, Satnarine Bachew told the gathering that included Regional Chairman of Region Five, Harrinarine Baldeo and Chairman of the Bath/Woodley Park Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Cecil Ramdatt that “the cement should not run like soup.”
He called on persons who are building homes to “put your feet down” if they noticed that their cement was not mixed correctly. He also warned that the cement should not be mixed with dirty water as it would weaken the concrete and decrease the strength of the building.
According to Bachew, “TCL is committed to providing quality cement and as such the TGI Cement Tent initiative is important because it aids customers in producing quality projects.”
He also pointed out that “cement is vital to building construction and the TCL Group is the leading producer and marketer of cement and ready-mix products in the Caribbean.”
TCL also funded a bus shed that is being constructed at Bath and took the opportunity to hand it over to Ramdatt, who represented the community. Ramdatt said that “the construction of the bus shed is very important and timely since a new school has been recently opened in the community and the students would benefit greatly…”
TCL Guyana Inc is a cement bagging facility, which allows for bulk cement manufactured within the TCL Group to be shipped and specialized bulk carriers to the terminal where it is packed for distribution throughout Guyana.
Among those present at the Cement Tent were TGI’s Public Relations Officer Alex Graham, Plant Manager Mark Bender and Marketing Manager Rosco Green.
