The Diocese of Guyana hosts a thanksgiving mass today in honour of the Bishop of Guyana, Rev Randolph Oswald George who is retiring at year-end.
In a press release the Diocese said a number of activities have been planned to mark this historic occasion, the major one being the mass set for the St George’s Cathedral at 5 pm today.
According to the release Bishop George served the Diocese of Guyana for 32 years. “One cannot help but express our gratitude individually and collectively to God for the identification and preparation of this outstanding son of the soil who has touched the lives of thousands of Guyanese bringing hope to them in one form or another,” the release said.
In the light of this the Diocese urges all Anglicans and non-Anglicans to “fill the Cathedral… as a testimony of our sincere love for him and an appreciation for all that he has done for us.”
