The two junior middle distance athletes are accompanied by Athletics Association of Guyana General Secretary Pamela Philips who will be the team manager. The Guyanese will  be competing on  November 29 and 30.

The championships, initially scheduled for Cartagena, Colombia in October, had been cancelled because that country’s stadium was destroyed by an earthquake. As a result the competition was returned to the South American Confederation which discussed the matter at its Special Congress in Rio, Brazil  during the staging of the IAAF/CAIXA half marathon.
