Two brothers who were charged in relation to a fake vehicle window tint permit were each granted $95,000 bail when they appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Eric Sankar, 29, and Nigel Sankar, 21, both of 29 Lusignan Pasture, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and uttering a forged document.
It is alleged that between August 1 and November 27, Eric conspired with persons unknown to forge one window tint permit for motor car PLL 8563 purporting to show that the same was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and signed by Minister Clement Rohee.
Further, it is alleged that on November 27 on the East Coast Demerara, Nigel uttered to a police constable one vehicle window tint permit purporting to show that the same was genuine and signed by Rohee.
Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson represented both brothers.
According to Thompson, the car was used to conduct business and the brothers were unaware that the permit had been forged.
The lawyer then made an application for reasonable bail on behalf of his clients. According to Thompson, the Sankar brothers have unblemished records and would attend court.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted bail in the sum of $95,000 each. The matter was transferred to Court Two for January 5 when statements are to be served.
