Dear Editor,
I was recently in Guyana and was appalled at the state of poverty that Guyana has descended into. We have no reason to be in this state given the resources we have, human and natural. But, because of gross mismanagement and racial politics practised deliberately on our human resources, we are now rated as one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere.
What can our young people hope for when they have been born into this state of poverty? Do they really know what a better life actually is?
I pray that one day we can for once rid Guyana of racial politics and the few political elites who think they have the God-given right to keep us in such a state for their benefit. Our hopes and dreams are stronger than the PNC and PPP.
Yours faithfully,
K. Persaud
