The Parika, East Bank Essequibo gas station owner, who was found dead in his home on Sunday, was strangled, a post-mortem examination has confirmed and two persons, including a close relative, remain in police custody as investigations continue.
68-year-old Brandis Roberts was found dead in his home with his hands tied behind his back and a pair of pants tied around his face, covering his mouth. However, jewellery that Roberts was wearing at the time, his cellular phone and keys were intact, relatives had said, while the day’s takings was missing.
Police said that a post-mortem examination performed on the body by pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh gave the cause of death as asphyxia due to strangulation. A man and a woman are in custody assisting with investigations.
