The ‘D’ Division Community Policing Group team emerged the champions of the National Community Policing Inter-Division Dominoes Competition at the Lusignan Community Centre, East Coast Demerara last Sunday.
In the final, ‘D’ Division amassed a massive 77 games with Mohanlall Narine leading the way with the maximum 18 games to overpower ‘B’ Division who finished second with 72 games and hosts ‘C’ Division third on 68 games.
Ashwant Paltoo and N. Persaud of ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions respectively both supported their teams with 15 games each while Khain Singh shared a double love in the competition that was sponsored by Medrick Shortt.
In the West Indian Sports Complex and West Coast Demerara Cedric Williams sponsored 10 overs-a side taped ball cricket competition, ‘C’ Division walked away as the champions after defeating ‘D’ Division in the final.
‘D’ Division, having the opportunity to bat first, posted a low total of 44 in their allotted overs with D. Balram top scoring with 10 as no other batsman was able to get into double figures.
Deo Gopaul bagged 2-9 for ‘C’ Division, who in reply, were led by D. Samaroo who contributed a healthy unbeaten 25 to propel his team to 48 from 8.2 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Balram returned with the ball to claim 3-7 from his two overs.
