National middle order batsman Travis Dowlin warmed up for the upcoming West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) 2009 Carib Beer sponsored Regional four day competition, with a pugnacious unbeaten century at the end of the second day of the three day trial match at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence yesterday.
Dowlin struck 16 fours and one six from the 125 deliveries he faced, to be unbeaten on 101 at the declaration which came on the stroke of team and found his team who resumed on 148-3 overnight, on 352-8 against an Esaun Crandon XI.
Apart from Dowlin who batted for 125 minutes, national opener Royston Crandon, the younger brother of Esaun, made a stable 92 off 143 deliveries and struck 10 fours and two sixes whilst batting for 183 minutes, against the bowling of national right arm leg spinner Devendra Bishoo who took 5-71.
In reply, Crandon’s XI were 80-4 at the close, with former national under-19 batsmen Vishal Singh and Krishna Deosarran being the not out batsmen on 22 and 12 respectively whilst national fast bowler Brendon Bess has so far taken 2-25.
