The body of the man who was killed in a suspected hit and run accident on Wednesday at Madewini, has been identified as that of 43-year-old Rupert Jagnarine of De Hoop, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
According to a police release, the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident has reported to the police and is in custody assisting with investigations.
Jagnarine’s lifeless body was found on Wednesday morning sometime after 9 o’clock, with injuries to his back and legs.
Meanwhile, a Mahaica resident yesterday appeared at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of noise nuisance. Jaipaul Pharis of Chelsea Park, Mahaica, ECD, appeared before Magistrate Haymant Ramdhani and pleaded guilty to the charge. He is expected to return to court on December 9, to be sentenced.
