City Hall yesterday urged the public to be alert when shopping for food for human consumption.
According to a press release, this advisory follows a number of complaints that owners of some supermarket are offering expired products for sale.
In the light of this, the council said, inspections of food bonds and restaurants have been intensified.
The release further stated that persons who indulge in the practice of selling expired products would be subjected to serious action as this is a breach of the by laws and regulations.
