Kayo’s Academy in Linden made its first contribution to the Kashif and Shanghai tournament when they presented the Most Improved Player of the tournament trophy to the organizers.
The academy, which was formed this year by national player Kayode “Magic Man” McKinnon, said they chose the Improved Player prize because they felt that there were players who normally do not get a chance to receive some of the top prizes.
Receiving the trophy was Co-Director of the Kashif and Shanghai organization, Aubrey “Shanghai” Major, who praised the organization for donating the trophy and commended the youngsters for making the gesture for continued camaraderie.
Over 40 children from within the Linden community converge every Saturday at the Linden Technical Institute (LTI) ground where they are taught the basic skills of football by members of the Bakewell Topp XX club.
They are also normally given lectures by notable figures from Linden.
McKinnon’s, uncle Michael McKinnon along with his parents Pastor Andy and Gloria McKinnon, are in charge of the academy in his absence.
