A hymac was yesterday deployed to raise a low-lying section of the Boerasirie Conservancy dam where some overtopping had occurred at Canal Number Two, Region Three Chairman, Julius Faerber confirmed.
The machine was sent into the area yesterday morning by the management of the Boerasirie Conservancy and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority, he said. Stabroek News had reported on the overtopping in yesterday’s edition.
Meantime, water was still evident in several areas on the West Demerara, but was receding when the kokers were opened yesterday. Faerber reiterated that monitoring was ongoing on a 24-hour basis.
