Fourth Dando Cup Competition

Ryan Soares emerged the Most Outstanding Athlete from among
18 in the Guyana Taekwondo Association’s Fourth Danda Cup Competition.
Fourteen divisions made up the Individual Poomse and Gyrugi Competitions (Forms).

Individual Poomse was the first Form to be contested with the Advanced Junior Boys where Orlando Van-Rossum took the gold and Kevin Arjune the silver.

In the Intermediate Junior Boys (Special Division) Anthony Chan-a-Sue won gold ahead of Brian Woolford.
La Toya Herbert and Alfad Vanderhyden won gold and silver respectively in the Intermediate Male and Female contests while Frank Paul, Shelton Edwards and Kawall Ramkiran came first, second and third respectively in the Beginner Males category.

Marcelo Ferreria won the Senior Male category with Nandalall Arjune and Kewley Clarke occupying second and third positions respectively. Arjune then won gold in the Open Advance Male Category ahead of Van-Rossum and Ferreira and Alim Azimullah who tied for third.

Additionally, Soares then won the Open Intermediate Male and Female Category followed by Herbert and Kevin Arjune who was tied at third with Chan-a-Sue, Vanderhyden and Woolford. In the final Individual Poomse Ramkiran won the Open Beginner Male with Frank Paul and Shad Ally finishing second and third respectively.

In the Gyrugi Form (Fighting) Van-Rossum won the Advanced Junior Boys Category while Kevin Arjune dominated the Intermediate Junior Boys Category.

In other results, Abishaun Munroe won the Beginner Junior Boys, Paul the Intermediate Males No. 1, Soares the Intermediate No.2 and Lincoln Leitch the Heavy Weight Division.

At the close of the competition the students presented Association president Master Ramjeet Ramphal and Secretary Master Roy Bacchus with plaques in recognition and appreciation of their service in promoting the Taekwondo sport locally.
