Over $4 million was spent to print tickets for the Carifesta X activities, Culture Minister Dr Frank Anthony told members of the National Assembly yesterday.
In a written submission to the Assembly, Anthony said that $4,092,920 was spent on printing 330,706 tickets for the festivities. The tickets were printed by Ticket Masters in Canada at approximately $12 per ticket.
The minister was at the time responding to a question posed by PNCR MP Volda Lawrence, regarding the expenditure to purchase tickets.
She also asked about the money garnered from the sale of tickets, and whether there had been a shortfall in the expected income from sales.
Anthony explained that the tickets were distributed free of cost and were never intended to generate any sort of income.
