A Number Five Village, West Coast Berbice pensioner was killed on Christmas Eve after a motor car struck him from behind as he was riding his bicycle along the roadway.
Police in a press release said investigations have thus far revealed that 68-year-old Watson Joseph was riding his bicycle along the roadway at approximately 6.35pm that day when he was struck from behind by a car.
Joseph, the police said, was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital by public-spirited persons where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
A resident of Number Five Village told this newspaper via telephone yesterday that Joseph was on his way to a nearby shop to get kerosene for his family.
