Amelia’s Ward Jets blew past Patriots 69-43 while Victory Valley Royals made light work of Wismar Pistons 53-47 when the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Pioneer Construction Senior Club championships continued over the weekend at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard-court.
Playing the opening game of the double header The Jets, led by a game-high 29-point performance from Kevin “Two Feet” Joseph proved too much for the Patriots.
The diminutive Joseph used his killer cross over dribbles and his quickness to easily run around the Patriots’ players.
At half time though, the Patriots held the advantage leading 25-21.
It was a more organized Jets team which took to the court for the second half with Joseph leading the way supported by national junior player Akeem Kanhai and Neil Simon.
Kanhai and Simon chipped in with 15 and 11 points respectively.
For the Patriots, Neil Marks and Alwyn Wilson each scored 11 points. In the second match, national club champions Wismar Pistons were no match for Dwayne Roberts and the Victory Valley Royals.
Roberts was unstoppable playing the centre position.
The team from the Victory Valley area led all four quarters of the game.
Roberts finished with a game-high 26 points while the sharp shooting Chris Williams chipped in with 10 points.
For the Pistons only Trevor Profitt proved profitable contributing 20 points while Quincy Jones and Mark Louis each scored nine points.
The tournament will continue this weekend at the same venue.
