It was a historic day in the history of football in Guyana when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) obtained official equipment sponsorship for the Golden Jaguars, so it is safe to say that they (GFF) gained a lot during the recently concluded Guyana/ Suriname 2010 World Cup qualifier.
Coming out of France, the business entity that goes by the brand “One” handed over 108 pieces (54 shirts and 54 trunks) of the uniforms to the GFF with the Golden Jaguars logo emblazoned on the jerseys.
Footballs, uniform socks and other training equipment such as bibs were among the things handed over to the GFF on Sunday prior to the Guyana/Suriname return fixture in the Concacaf zone of the 2010 FIFA world Cup qualifier.
GFF Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz had stated earlier that in his press briefing that “We may have lost the match, but football in Guyana won” by, this partnership could be one aspect that contributed to the victory for football.
The GFF received the uniforms from the company prior to the June 22 match up, however, the uniforms was not used because of a reason which were not made clear to Stabroek News.
GFF President Colin Klass said that a number of national teams would benefit from that partnership as rain coats and casual wear are also going to be part of the bounty the GFF would be receiving from the sponsors.
