An overseas based Guyanese and two of her relatives were the victims of an armed robbery which occurred on Tuesday night at Fryish, Corentyne.
The police in a statement said that around 11 pm on Tuesday Gogeeda Poonai, her son and a nephew were attacked and robbed by five masked men armed with firearms and cutlasses.
Investigations revealed that the victims and a number of persons were chatting at the Fryish premises following a religious function held by Poonai, when the bandits entered and held them at gunpoint.
They were placed to lie on the ground and the men then took away jewellery and cash to the value of $2 million from the victims and escaped.
Investigations are continuing.
