Information has pointed police to another suspect they believe may have knowledge of or was involved in the execution-style shooting to death of Environmental Protection Agency employee, Alicia Foster on October 12 last year.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News yesterday that the man was picked up by police on Thursday after intelligence pointed to him. The suspect was being questioned up to late yesterday.
Two other men held by police in late November were released after they were not recognized in an identification parade. They were placed on station bail as the investigations continue.
At around 10 on that fateful October night, Alicia Foster, 25, was shot at point-blank range in her face as she sat in her car waiting for her younger sister to open the gate to her David Street, Kitty home.
She was reportedly approached by a man who demanded that she exit the car and shot after she allegedly refused. The man then dragged her out of the car and drove away with it, while his accomplice fled the scene.
The gunman had abandoned the woman’s car which was found the following day at Well Road, North Ruimveldt.
The woman’s relatives have doubted that her killing was as a result of a carjacking or a robbery since nothing was taken from her except her life. They believed that something else was amiss. Police have also since ruled out robbery as the motive behind the killing and are still said to be pursuing several leads.
