The Mayor and City Council said since the start of the year there has already been a modest flow of persons at City Hall paying their rates and it urges more citizens to do so.
In a press release the council commended “corporations and citizens” for settling their accounts in December. It said this allowed the municipality to provide drainage, street lighting, garbage collection, public health and other environmental services to local communities.
The council said it would not have been able to carry out its mandate without citizens’ support. It said citizens who honour their civic obligations allow it to improve conditions city-wide and it hopes other businesses and home-owners will do same.
The release said too the payments of rates can be done in four instalments: first quarter, February 1, second quarter April 1, third quarter July 1 and fourth quarter October 1.
