The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha celebrated its thirty-fifth anniversary on January 8 with a service which included music, kirtan and baajan.
A press release from the Dharmic Sabha quoted its president Reepu Daman Persaud as saying that “it has been a challenging, complex and difficult period but our achievements made us proud and so we celebrate with pride and joy.”
The press release stated also that Dr Madan Rambarran, the Sabha’s senior vice-president traced the achievements of the organisation from the beginning, pointing out the progress it has made in various areas including: Deepavali Motorcade, Holi Utsav, Naya Zamana and Kala Utsav. The successes in the field of education were also highlighted.
Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh was also present at the anniversary service. According to the release, he informed the gathering at the Shri Krishna Mandir that he started at the Sabha at the Bacho-Ka-Satsangh group which was headed by Indrani Persaud and he remained appreciative of the good work the Sabha is doing and the fact he came out from the Sabha’s training groups. Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud congratulated the Sabha for the good work it is doing.
The proceedings were chaired by Shrimattie Chandra Gajraj.
