The girlfriend of the Barbadian national, who died from stab wounds received in an alleged robbery attempt, was yesterday remanded to prison after she appeared in court, charged with his murder.
Tramangra Williams of South Sophia, appeared before Magistrate Yohance Cave at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of Tyrone Best, and was subsequently remanded to prison until January 27.
Best died on January 3, while a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital. He had been hospitalized there after being stabbed in his abdomen on December 27.
According to information provided by the police, initial investigations indicated that Best, who lived at Section ‘D’, South Sophia, was allegedly the victim of an armed robbery. According to the police, the victim was attacked and robbed by two men at Sophia.
However, as police continued their investigations, Williams, also of South Sophia, was arrested and subsequently charged with the murder of Best.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination performed yesterday on the dead man’s body revealed that he died from haemorrhage and shock due to stab wounds to his liver, a release from the police said.
