The Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) last Saturday visited Mahaicony and Mahaica Creek residents affected by the current intense rainfall and distributed food hampers, potable water and sanitizing supplies.
The IAC stated in a press release that executives of the organization, Neaz Subhan, Raymond Azeez, Evan Persaud, Felicia Persaud, accompanied by Prakash Gossai, Personal Assistant to the President, and volunteers made the distribution to residents in Gordon Table, Pine Ground and First Savannah in the Mahaicony Creek and Big Biaboo and Grass Hook in the Mahaica Creek.
The IAC said that it recognizes that the inconvenience felt by the residents as a result of the heavy rainfall is linked to climate change which is adversely affecting countries worldwide. The IAC also noted the efforts of the Government, the Civil Defence Commission, the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority and other agencies in their ongoing humanitarian work to assist those who are affected.
