Vector control workers attached to the Mayor and City Council’s Public Health Department have started an exercise in several Albouystown and Charlestown yards affected by flooding due to recent heavy rainfall.
The council in a statement issued on Friday said the workers have been spraying yards with a solution of disinfectant to reduce any health risks which the water accumulation can cause.
According to the release, environmental officers and their assistants are also educating residents on the importance of a healthy environment noting that it is crucial that they understand the need to keep their surroundings clean and tidy at all times.
The council also called on all citizens to ensure that they have the requisite containers for proper disposal of refuse and reminded that the law required that they have this facility on their premises.
