The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) will take place on February 1 from 11:00 am at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club.
outgoing President, Noel Adonis, and Snr. Vice President, Robin Roberts, will be seeking re-election.
According to a release from the organization, the GRFU has had an extremely successful year, concluding with the national men’s and women’s Sevens teams winning the Caribbean Championships held in the Bahamas in October. Five of Guyana’s Sevens players are short listed for selection to the Rugby West Indies Team which will be participating in the iRB Sevens World Series in Hong Kong from March 27-29.
Guyana successfully hosted the Caribbean Women’s 15s Championships in May last year with the national women’s team playing undefeated and placing second in the tournament behind Trinidad and Tobago
Guyana’s Men’s National Fifteens side placed 2nd in the Caribbean to Trinidad & Tobago in the NAWIRA 2011 RWC 15s Qualifier held in Cayman in April.
Guyana’s Men’s national U19 team, having held the Caribbean U19 Championships for three previous years in succession, placed fourth in last year’s Qualifying Championship in Barbados.
A Guyana Women’s All-Star Sevens side wound up the past year winning the Trinidad & Tobago Enthusiasts International Sevens tournament.
