The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) says the West Watooka Pump Station in Region Ten is malfunctioning and “sectionalized delivery” will be conducted each day until the situation is regularised.

West Watooka, Silvertown, Silvercity, first, second and third alley, Danjou Hill Section ‘C’ Christianburg, Victory Valley and sections of Canvas City have been affected, a press release from the Government Information agency (GINA) said. The pump developed problems on Friday that resulted in reduced and no water supply in some areas.

GINA said a technical team had extracted the pump to assess the problem and an official statement will be issued regarding the duration of the interruption. GWI has advised the 927 residents affected to conserve and store water safely until the problem is resolved.
