Dear Editor,
What does Barack Obama’s inauguration mean to me. It represents the beginning of the final lap in our long journey to the re-establishment of our dignity. In the words of the Blak National Anthem, “We have come over a path which with blood has been watered, we have come the reading the path of the blood of the slaughtered.”
On this journey everything possible was done to destroy the integrity of the Afrikan family, man, woman and child. First Lady Michelle Obama at President Barack Obama’s side represents the re-inauguration of the Afrikan woman’s dignity which was trampled upon on the plantation. It is the inauguration of the first woman into the office of the First Lady.
The Afrikan man’s capacity to defend his home, woman and child’s decency was destroyed on the plantation. President Barack Obama represents not only the capacity to protect his own home but all the homes in the nation. This is the re-inauguration of blak man as protector of his home and family.
Sasha and Malia Obama’s daddy now has the capacity to defend not only their integrity, but the restoration of the integrity of all those who through the excesses of this civilization have suffered.
It is the re-inauguration of the Afrikan family.
It is a great day. The family which has been so denigrated in this civilization is now the first family. It is soothing to my battered psyche.
Yours faithfully,
Jonathan Adams
