Police at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, yesterday nabbed a passenger on a Delta Airlines flight with a quantity of cocaine.
According to a release from the police, the passenger, a woman, had a total of 1 kg 235 grammes of the drug in her checked luggage and hand piece.
She was arrested and brought to Georgetown where investigations are continuing.
In recent times a number of persons have been slipping through the airport’s security with cocaine.
Last week three Guyanese were nabbed at the Piarco Airport, Trinidad with large quantities of cocaine. While two pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison the third, a woman, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years hard labour.
