A 53-year-old Crabwood Creek pedal cyclist who was hit by a motor car succumbed to his injuries at the Skeldon Hospital on Sunday night.
Prakash Tulsie of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice was riding along the Line Path Skeldon Public Road on Sunday evening when he was struck down by motor car PFF 7589 which, according to reports, was speeding.
Stabroek News understands that the car was proceeding north along the western carriageway. The driver of the vehicle said Tulsie had just exited a street on the eastern side of the road and was proceeding to the western side when he came into contact with the front of the car.
A resident who was at the scene that night told this newspaper Tulsie was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Skeldon Hospital for emergency medical attention. According to the resident, Tulsie had just left his daughter’s home where he had gone to collect some food.
The 53-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10.20 that night.
Meanwhile, police in a press statement issued yesterday said they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 7.15 pm on Sunday on the public road at Line Path, Skeldon.
The accident resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Tulsie the release stated. According to the police, investigations revealed that motor car PFF 7589 was proceeding along the roadway, when it is alleged by the driver that the pedal cyclist rode out from an access road into the path of the vehicle and was struck down.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
