Dear Editor,
I would like to thank the President for all the good that he has done for Guyana during his tenure in office. Guyana has seen much improvement in a number of sectors and I am an optimist, so I would prefer to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. However, in the midst of it all I think that there is one last project that I would love to see him accomplish before he demits office.
The Guyana Revenue Authority has several offices dotted throughout Georgetown and I would like to suggest that the government uses the available lands between the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and the Cuffy Monument to build a large beautiful complex to accommodate all of the various agencies of the GRA.
This development would be good for business; the complex would have sufficient parking for staff as well as the general public. The complex could be entered and exited from two access roads; it would be easily accessible to the residents of Kitty, South/North Ruimveldt and most residents as the area is located on a main carriageway.
The National Insurance Scheme could also be included in this venture, as they too have old multiple offices in Georgetown that could be merged. Maybe even the Ministry of Finance could be included as well.
Any new modern complex would surely continue to improve the aesthetics of the city, just as Republic Bank, GBTI and the soon to be constructed NBS would have achieved. It may cost some amount of money to build, but there are numerous benefits to be derived from maintaining only one modern complex.
Yours faithfully,
D Thomas
