A 47-year-old father of three yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charge of indecent assault when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magis-trate’s Court.
It was alleged that on November 12, 2008 at Georgetown, Harold Brandford, manager of Brands Security and a resident of 2667 National Avenue, South Ruimveldt Park fondled a woman’s private parts.
Brandford’s lawyer Gregory Gaskin made application for bail in a reasonable sum on the grounds that his client is a first time offender and is not a flight risk.
According to Gaskin, the allegations made against his client have no basis. He added that the fact the VC was absent from court proves how baseless the case is.
Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith, who had no objection to bail, pointed out, however, that the only reason the VC was not in court was the result of her not being contacted and informed by the police that she needed to be in court.
Brandford was placed on $150,000 bail and is to return to court on March 6 for statement.
